07/20/2026. Remarks by
Johan Visschedijk: "This Snipe was taken on charge on September 15, 1918, and was assigned to Captain W.E.G. Mann of 208 Squadron. After the Armistice of November 11, 1918, the squadron was based at the aerodrome near Beaupré-sur-la-Lys Abbey, Wallonia, Belgium. On January 20, 1919, Captain Mann made a too fast landing in fog at Strée Aerodrome, some 15 mls (25 km) north from Beaupré, and ran into a stationary Snipe (E8162) occupied by Major H.G. Smart. Both pilots escaped injuries, both aircraft were wrecked."
